Sago "Cycas revoluta/circinalis"
SAGO PALM (Cycas revoluta) We also offer the Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta). It is a more commonly seen Cycad, with its origins lying in the Far East. It is an incredibly popular landscape and container plant, often finding its way into homes in temperate regions as a houseplant, and as a landscape plant in subtropical areas. We keep several both indoors and out, with beautiful results. We have also found they do remarkably well as a bonsai plant, their compact form tolerating pruning and training with no obvious signs of distress. As with any bonsai, though, slow and careful pruning are the keys to a successful project.
Not to be confused with the true Sago Palm, these Cycad Palm Trees are very versatile and remain fairly small in stature. We've foudn they don't typically grow much taller than 10 ft, and with their sturdy trunks, make a bold visual statement, whether in a container or planted directly into the landscape. We are particularly intrigued by their provenance -- they can be found in the fossil record from millions of years ago, unchanged by time even today.
